Do you suffer from the ‘boring breakfast blues? Do you lack the energy to make it through your iron pumping, adrenaline fueling morning workout? It could be because you aren’t properly nourished. If that’s the case, we’ve got just the recipe for success—three of them, actually. The smarter you eat, the faster you’ll get toned and tight!
Eat Acai Like It’s Nobody’s Business
Just because you need breakfast, doesn’t mean you have to reach for the bagel. Grab the acai berry, instead. The acai bowl is one of the latest superfood trends, as it’s made with frozen acai. Full of fiber, and vitamin C, how can you go wrong? Blend up one package of frozen acai (found in the freezer aisle of most grocery stores) and ¼ cup of almond or soy milk. Use more milk if a thinner consistency is needed. Pour in a bowl and top with strawberries, blueberries and almonds.
The Chia Bowl (Fresh Fruit, Included)
The chia bowl is another great alternative to muffins and pancakes, and it’s an easy way to get extra protein in! In a mixing bowl, combine ¼ cup of raw chia seeds (find them at your local supermarket store, in the natural foods aisle), one cup of almond milk, one cup of plain yogurt, one tablespoon of maple syrup and a drizzle of honey. Mix well to combine, and refrigerate overnight. The next morning for breakfast, scoop up and dish into a bowl. Top with fresh berries, almonds and sunflower seeds.
A Raspberry and Granola Treat
There’s nothing better than berries first thing in the morning. Raspberries are a super food, as they are packed with fiber, iron, protein and a variety of vitamins to get you off to the most energetic start possible. If a long list of ingredients scares you from prepping in the kitchen, this is the perfect recipe for you. The best part? You can make this breakfast dish ahead of time and enjoy it for days on end.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the following ingredients: 1 cup of oats, half a cup of hemp or flax seeds; 2 Tbsp. olive oil, 2 Tbsp. of orange juice, ¼ cup of pure honey, 1 teaspoon of pure vanilla extract and 1 C. of dried raspberries (any dried berry will do). Preheat the oven to 325 degrees, lay the mixture on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 15 minutes.
With these recipes, you’ll jump out of bed to get your breakfast on. The most important meal of your day has never tasted so delicious!
