The beauty about protein rich food is that you can enjoy the foods you love while keeping your calories to a minimum—simply because you get fuller, faster! If you want to lose weight, pancakes are generally on the ‘no go’ list, because they are high in carbs (and if they are covered in butter and maple syrup) loaded in sugar and fat. At Fitness 19, we don’t believe in giving up what you love—at least, not altogether—which is why enjoying pancakes which are loaded with protein is the sensible way to go! Chia Seed Pancakes
Smash a few ripe bananas with a fork, and then in a medium bowl, add one heaping scoop of vanilla protein powder, 2 egg whites (or eggs if you prefer), 1/8 teaspoon of pure vanilla extract, 1 tablespoon of fresh lemon juice, 1 tsp. of lemon zest, 1 tsp. of chia seeds, 1 tablespoon of all-purpose flour and ½ tsp. of baking powder.  Make sure that all ingredients are smooth and well combined before placing on a hot griddle (which should be well coated with cooking spray). Once pancakes are fully cooked, they will be thin. Top with a scoop of fresh whipped cream and strawberries.
Chocolate Protein Pancakes
This recipe is perfect for a fancy looking breakfast, which is so easy to make! Smash up two ripe bananas, ¾ cup of uncooked oats and 4 eggs in a blender on high. After it’s completely blended, add a few tablespoons of cocoa powder, 1/3 cup of chocolate protein powder and ¼ tsp. of ground cinnamon to the blender. Heat up your griddle, cook the pancakes and top with powdered sugar and fresh berries.
