Finding the Time to Workout
Do you struggle with finding enough time in the day to work out – which causes you to ditch your workouts from time to time? If so, this is the article for you. Learn how to make your exercise routine a reality, and shift from ‘I can’t’ to ‘I can’t wait!’
It’s Not a Vanity Thing – It’s a Health Thing
If you allow yourself to, you’ll always find a way to make an excuse not to workout. Who has the time if they think about it? With deadlines, errands to run and families to take care of, exercise may fall far down on your priority list. But, it shouldn’t. Making time to work out isn’t just about losing stomach fat and building muscle. It’s about staying out of the dangerous obesity zone, keeping your blood pressure down, and keeping your mood up. In short, it’s about being your most energetic, youthful, happiest (and best of all) healthiest self possible. Let’s do this!
Time Management Advice To Squeeze the Workouts In
For some people, finding the time to work out is as simple as waking up an hour earlier in order to hit the gym before heading to work. For others, it may be more difficult. If this is your situation, here are some simple and creative ways to work out – without a gym in sight:
- Bike to work. If you can’t bike or walk to work, where can you? The neighborhood grocery store? Your kids school for their daily pick-up? You can also get extra steps in by climbing stairs instead of taking the elevator. Or, pick the parking spot furthest away from the store. Every extra step counts towards a healthier you!
- Reduce the amount of time you spend not exercising. To find more time to work out, get creative about that time you spend doing other things. For example, can you cut down your TV time at night to an hour shorter and then spend that time doing an at-home workout?
- Don’t make your kids an excuse. If you’re a busy parent, take your work out to where your kids are. Have a baby or toddler? Use them to lift! When taking them for a walk, run with the stroller, lunge with it, or rock them to sleep by squatting as you do!
Make the Time, See the Results
Creativity is key when it comes to squeezing workouts in. There’s never going to be enough time to work out, but making time is the answer – by holding yourself accountable. This time is yours, and it’s all you’ve got. Make the most of it by giving the gift of exercise to yourself.
