There’s many different things you need to do to ‘do your body good.’ You already know that getting enough exercise is important, as well as sticking to a healthy diet. But did you know that when you don’t keep your health in check, your energy takes a nosedive? If you’re looking for more hours in the day to get it all done, there’s another way to be productive. Here are some tips to feel like an energizer bunny. If it’s good enough for celebrity trainers, it’s good enough for us!
Stick to Superfoods (and Skip the Processed Stuff)
When you stick to a real food diet plan—in other words, food that isn’t manufactured in a warehouse and chocked full of chemicals, pesticides and artificial flavors—your body bows down in gratitude. Why? Because meat which is free from injected hormones, fruits, grains and vegetables is grow from the Earth and made for our bodies to be nourished from. You won’t ever hear a celebrity trainer say, “Go for the food in a bag!” Nope. Stick to nutrient-rich, fiber-heavy and easily digestible foods that your body will thank you for.
Eat Mini Meals (and Eat More Frequently!)
When’s the last time you had high energy after digesting a really heavy, big meal? Think: Thanksgiving dinner (with all the trimmings). The last thing you want to do after scarfing down turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, dinner rolls and green bean casserole is go for a run or kick start a friendly game of mud football. You want to sleep, right? For more energy, don’t put all your calories on reserve for a heavy meal at the end of the day. Instead, spread out your daily calorie intake with 5-6 small but frequent meals throughout the day. Make sure you eat plenty of protein first thing in the morning, and stay properly hydrated.
Hydration is the Key
If you aren’t getting your eight glasses of water in a day, then chances are you’re feeling a bit sluggish by mid-afternoon on the daily. Start your morning with a tall glass of water (ice cold if you want to lose weight) and as a rule of thumb, drink water before and after each meal. Not only will this trick keep you hydrated, but it’ll ensure you stay productive, energized and on top of your game!
Stable energy throughout your day is the goal. Say goodbye to a sluggish morning, or worn out afternoon. Stick to frequent mini-meals, proper hydration and superfoods to nourish and revitalize your energy instead!
