When there’s no time in the day for exercise – 5 minute fat blasters that work

Person shovelling snowNo matter how much we wish for it days will not be extended to 25 hours. That means we have to do the best we can with the 24 we are given. If that limit still leaves you scrambling for time to exercise, don’t worry. Here is a 5 minute fat blasting workout that fits easily into even the most time crunched schedule. Great results in less time – who wouldn’t want that?

Five minute workouts work because they are high intensity workouts that rev up your metabolism. Give it all you can and keep rest periods brief. Get a mat and towel and get ready to sweat. Do each exercise for 30 to 60 seconds with a rest period of no more than 30 seconds. Feel free to mix  it up to prevent boredom and keep your body guessing. Maybe one day you perform two rounds at 30 seconds per exercise and another day you do each for 60 seconds. Use an interval timer if you have one.

Run in place – hold arms at your sides and run in place as fast as you can. Alternately you can jump rope or do high knee lifts.

Marching Glute Bridge – lie on your mat with feet flat in the floor. Raise your hips then lift your right knee toward your chest. Lower it and then lift your left knee toward your chest. Continue marching for the desired interval period.

Walking lunges – start at the beginning of a hall and lunge to the end and back.

Plank – Get into push up position. With your elbows and forearms flat on the floor and feet resting on your toes your body should form a straight line. Maintain form and hold.

Mountain climbers – Get on your mat with hands and knees on the floor. Rest your hands, palms down and finger tips forward,  just ahead of your shoulders. Keeping your abs engaged bring your right foot quickly toward your chest. Return right foot to starting position and next bring your left foot forward. Continue alternating feet in a climbing position as quickly as you can for the desired interval.

Shovel – are you snowed in? Clear your driveway and blast some fat. Snow shoveling burns mega calories, raises your heart rate and exercises your large muscles. You have to make a path to the car anyway – go ahead and kill two birds with one stone.

You may not get more hours in the day but you can certainly do more with the hours you have. Try these exercises a few times a week to blast fat fast.
